Montego Bay United (MBU) could bid for Rivoli United’s ace marksman, Cory Burke, in the Red Stripe Premier League’s January transfer window.Club director Lincoln Whyte said yesterday that Burke, who has scored 12 goals this season, is on their radar.Montego Bay United already have leading scorer Dino Williams (13 goals) and Owayne Gordon (8) on their books, but are looking for reinforcement as they could lose players early in 2016.”We have an interest (in Burke). He is a top striker, and we would love to have him. We expect that come January, a few of our players might leave, so we have to do some forward thinking,” Whyte said.He added that Montego Bay United wanted to replace any outgoing talent with the best local players available.”In January, people (clubs) will be looking at our players. We will also be looking at players from other clubs, but we have not tried to pressure Cory (Burke) to come,” he said at yesterday’s Red Stripe Premier League press conference at Spanish Town Road.He explained that Montego Bay United’s president, Orville Powell, had a business-like vision for the club as it relates to coaching, recruiting, buying and selling players locally and overseas.”Our last coach is like a scout for us. He is looking to get our players into clubs overseas. We, therefore, expect some of our players to move overseas,” Whyte reasoned.Montego Bay United lead the standings in the Red Stripe Premier League with 33 points, two more than Portmore United.
